Duchess Gardens Open Day

Duchess Gardens held an open day just before Easter to unveil the recent makeover and the renaming of the home. It was also the perfect opportunity to launch their new Sunshine Therapy Room, which is to help patients with dementia.

Marathon man beats the elements!

The bad weather we experienced in November led to the cancelling of the Clowne Half Marathon. The original plan was for Liam Thomas Johnson (who is the son of our very own Liz Johnson-Clarke - Deputy Manager at Millington Springs) to run in the half marathon to raise funds for the residents at Millington Springs.

EHG Welcomes BBC Masterchef's Andy Oliver

We have great pleasure in announcing that BBC Masterchef's Andy Oliver will be visiting Elder Homes Group's Eton Park on 19th October to give a cookery class for all the group's chefs, as part of our campaign to raise awareness of Dementia in the UK. woods.

Major refurbishment for Lady Park

Lady Park has been undergoing some major changes recently and will continue to do so over the coming months. Once completed, the home will be re-launched under the new name of 'Duchess Gardens'.

The Links

There have also been plenty of developments at The Links in Bradford. The home has been divided into 5 new distinct individual units, which now enable the home to meet the various individual service users' needs.

Extensions at Eton Park continue

The 25 bedroom dementia and mental health unit at Eton Park has recently been completed, with refurbished bedrooms, new lounge, dining facilities and beautiful landscaped gardens.

Multiple EHG Nominations for Great British Care Awards

Numerous members of our staff and homes have been nominated for the finals of the Great British Care Awards in their area. On the 9th October, the Great West Midlands Care Awards will take place at the National Motorcycle Museum with a special gala dinner.

Rider House auction eastenders memorabilia

Rider House in Burton on Trent attracted the crowds in July, with a spectacular Summer Fayre, where a genuine Dot Cotton EastEnders script, a dress worn by Barbara Windsor, who played Peggy Mitchell on the show, and several signed photographs by other cast members were auctioned off.

Eton Park work with local schools

Eton Park has been taking part in a number of local school projects recently which has been mutually beneficial to both the home and schools. Every Wednesday, a group of young students from a local school come to help the home with their gardens.

Wedding anniversary celebrations

We had several wedding anniversary celebrations over the summer. Residents Sid and Ethel Smith celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary this year at Elder Homes Group's Millington Springs care home on the 26th July.

St. Georges passes kitchen inspection with flying colours!

In July, St. Georges received an excellent inspection review from the local authorities. Anita Temperley, the Manager at the home said that the inspector commented that he was "extremely happy with the kitchen".

Napa Music Festival at Millington Springs

Between the 7th –14th June Millington Springs entered the NAPA Music in the Air Challenge 2010, of which the first place prize was £3000. Everyday there was a variety of indoor and outdoor musical activities, ranging from music quizzes, bingo, trying different percussion instruments and using music in daily living activities.

Long lost cousins reunited

Two long lost cousins were reunited recently when they discovered they had been living in the same home. Fred Hollis and Amy Smith discovered they were living just metres apart in Eton Park when new resident Amy joined in the regular bingo session at the home.

Garden fun at The Links

This summer, residents at The Links have been getting creative by designing and making wooden Baby Bill and Ben flower pots.

Residents Receive Organic, Free Range Pork

EHG has made our first step towards going organic and free range! Residents will receive their pork chops, loins and other cuts of pork from free range, organically farmed pigs. EHG currently has approximately eighty pigs residing in Squirrel’s Chase country grounds and woods.

Marjory Celebrates 105th Birthday!
Preparations are underway for celebrations on the 13th May for the 105th birthday of Marjory Smith, a resident at EHG Beckcroft care home in Bradford. Marjory was born in 1905 in Undercliffe, Bradford as an only child.
Dementia Care Improvement and Expansion in Nottingham
Work costing over £2 million to build extra bedrooms and improve facilities at two of our homes in Nottingham will start this spring. EHG will begin the construction of a 23-bedroom extension at Millington Springs in Portland Road, Selston, on April 10.
New Essex Dementia Care Unit Opened
The EHG’s Edensor care home in Clacton on Sea, has announced the creation of a specialist dementia unit, which will provide 24-hour care and dedicated assistance by staff to patients who suffer from various dementia-related conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease.s.
EHG Annual Awards Ceremony
EHG recently held our annual awards ceremony at the Village Hotel & Leisure Club in Chilwell, Nottingham. The ceremony is held to recognise and thank our hard working staff and to reward those who go that step further in their roles.
